"Nice catch," he murmered, hoping to lighten the atmosphere a little. "But, Whitefoot. I do have a point. I didn't see whatever you were looking at so I don't understand why we're talking about warning RiverClan about something. Besides, Willowstar proved a great deputy and I suppose she will make a fine leader. She can keep her Clan safe from whatever's out there."

Looking at Stormtail now was making Whitefoot blush a little.

"Thanks..." She mumbled through a mouthful of prey. The she-cat dropped it on the floor, then kicked dirt over it. "But... StarClan has agreed that there should be five clans in the forest. Once it was four, but I can feel danger in my paws. The only way we could get through this is we help each other out..." Whitefoot mewed, before walking a little further; she was determined to tell Willowstar.

"Alright," sighed Stormtail after a while. "I'd better come with you. But what are you going to tell Willowstar?"

Secretly, Stormtail wondered whether what Whitefoot had been worried about was worth all this trouble. Anyways, what was she so worked up about? It wasn't as if foxes and badgers were attacking.

"Hm..." Whitefoot thought a moment, "We should warn Brightstar as well, because that fox could move into other territory soon." She looked around, her keen eyes spotted a mouse. "You wanna get that?" She whispered to Stormtail. She was keen to see him catch the mouse. Then they both have something to tell Brightstar about their hunting skills.

Stormtail nodded and dropped into a crouch. He stalked slowly forward, keeping his eyes fixed on the mouse. Then, when he was just a few tail-lengths away, he pounced, dispatched his prey and turned proudly back to Whitefoot, the mouse dangling from his jaws.

As he padded back torward his Clanmate, he couldn't help but wonder if what Whitefoot was saying about foxes had a hint of truth in it...

"Er, let's move to the SkyClan border shall we?" She mewed to Stormtail. She picked up the rabbit lying on the floor next to her and Whitefoot padded ahead. Whitefoot wanted to finish the patrol and then tell Willowstar and Brightstar.

bic//Stormtail picked up his mouse and trotted after Whitefoot. So far, this had been quite an unsuccessful patrol concerning him and Whitefoot and their friendship. If we even had a friendship in the first place....
